Compilation of statements by Mr. Andres Pavon, Executive Director of Committee for the Defense of Human Rights in Honduras, CODEH the national and international media on Saturday 14 November:

The growing number of inquiries and complaints to the national and international level by various organizations for human rights protection and civil associations that continue to strictly monitor the dangerous situation in the ungovernable country, increasingly point towards the existence of violent plans through which the coup regime, which usurped power in the nation on 28 June, using military weapons to overthrow the legitimately elected government of Manuel Zelaya Rosales, is now seeking to legitimize their criminal and violent actions through the formation of a constituent assembly made to fit the circles of oligarchs who tirelessly violate the Constitution and laws to suit their wild claims in disregard of the rights of Hondurans.

The Committee for the Defense of Human Rights in Honduras, CODEH, and its sister organizations in Honduras CIPRODEH and COFADEH as well as international organizations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, plus many others in Latin America and Europe, remain in a continuous high alert before the avalanche of evidence we have been compiling that demonstrate the existence of the following:

1. Murder Operations Leaders Against Peaceful Civil Resistance:

The coup military regime led by Romeo Vasquez Velasquez has expanded its intelligence operations to identify, find, and proceed to assassinate prominent members of the Resistance who are labeled as the backbone of demonstrations and marches in various parts of the country.

We know that within the military and police there operate photographers and cameramen who have been trained and hired specifically to individually identify those individuals who make up the backbone of peaceful marches, those who stand out for their bravery and courage to lead groups and encourage demonstrators.

These individuals are being identified by military intelligence and police forces, specifically in the famous "intelligence office" headed by the Commissioner Danilo Orellana, and agents infiltrated the Resistance marches are going on to identify them individually as well as providing information about their homes.

A result of these transactions are lists that are already being compiled in which the names and addresses of the Resistance leaders and defenders of Human Rights, including myself and others recognized by the Honduran people. We know we are on the list of targeted killings of Romeo Vasquez Velasquez, and we know he is hearing and listening to us right now. Declare to the world that any attack on human rights defenders in Honduras will come from military operations directed by him.

2. Military Assault Operations Against Bastions of peaceful civil resistance

A result of these operations of identification of individual members of peaceful civil resistance, are also THE NUMEROUS MILITARY ASSAULTS OF CRIMINAL NATURE carried out by special police forces (COECO, DNIC) and the army (Tesone, Battalion 14 +5) in populous neighborhoods of the capital and other parts of the country where they are proceeding to murder identified members of the Resistance, and the authorities are not coming to investigate the bodies, and without the coup media as el Heraldo and La Tribuna reporting on them, which gives us much to think about the depth of collusion between these distinct entities that insist on hiding the truth to the world.

These criminal special forces assaults are encountering armed opposition by the Honduran people in areas where they have been forced to take up arms to defend themselves as seen in testimonies of hundreds of Honduran citizens that are constantly being compiled to show the world that the civil war in Honduras began weeks ago, as the Honduran people in a state of absolute helplessness before the grotesque and hideous onslaught that victimizes them, led by this man's repressive forces.

3. Operation of mass murder on November 29 to Destroy elections and
declare a constituent assembly to ensure Continuity of the Dictatorial Regime

Army officers loyal to the Honduran people have provided information on a diabolical and heinous plan led by Romeo Vasquez Velasquez to camouflage a Honduran and Colombian paramilitary members of a fake "armed commando of Resistance ', and cause a slaughter of not less 1,300 to 1,500 civilians participating in the elections of 29 November, including members of the Civic-Democratic Union, mainly in the departments of the central region.

This attempted mass murder of suspected supporters of the scheme is basically aimed at creating a climate of hatred and retribution against the National Front and the Popular Resistance to label it a terrorist organization that will be persecuted and killed by security forces led by Romeo Vasquez Velasquez.

The military believes that if they can manipulate the perception of national and international civil movement of peaceful resistance, and make it look like a terrorist group, the movement will lose all the national and international support, and this will allow them to hunt and kill with impunity.

The ultimate goal of this abominable plan full of heinous crimes would destroy the fraudulent electoral process, which is already recognized as an overt failure, and declare the country in a state of ungovernability in order to govern it under martial law and call a constituent assembly that would perpetuate the deceitful validity of the dictatorial regime.

Military commanders are deeply nervous about the current situation they are facing, because politicians have left them alone for weeks now, and have smelled rightly the inability of the new government that will be derived from a fraudulent electoral process to fully protect them from the consequences of their criminal actions nationally and internationally.

No government will accept economic and diplomatic sanctions in order to protect military officials from prison; the government will be forced to use them as scapegoats to the International Criminal Court to calm the cries for justice that will surely emerge as a popular demand early next presidential term.

Thus the coup military regime has calculated that the only way to shield its future judicial tranquility is to 'refound' the nation, and proceed to form a constituent assembly that will produce a new state within which they will be the new masters without question.

It remains remarkable that in doing so would basically consummating the alleged 'crime' with which they have always sought to justify their high treason: the coup d'etat against a president who supposedly wanted to call a constituent assembly that is intolerable under the current constitution.

We issue an urgent call to the nations of the world, their governments, and all their citizens to act consistently with the principles of the civilized world and to accompany the noble people of Honduras in their struggle against forces of darkness who feel themselves the owners of the destinies of men and women who were born to be free and sovereign.
