tragedy

...or perhaps just a reminder to back up my hard drive. After yesterday's out-of-the-blue crash, it'll cost me more than the macbook itself to recover the past month of work. And you know what? It's worth the bloody two months of my miserable salary it's gonna cost to not rewrite that chapter. A pox on you, MacBook!

But in other news, the book release party at Modern Times was a great time. I was really touched to see so many friends from near and far, and especially happy that there were a number of people I didn't know, too. My books sold out, but I was glad I had brought my own copy, because I got to trade it with Chris Carlsson for his new book. Thanks, Janice and Annie, and all the other staff there who were so helpful and patient with us!

There are a lot of field notes I'd like to be writing right now, about the great meeting I happened upon in CARECEN the other day, for example, and more detail on the discussion last night. But I am standing here at the SF mac store (an iPhone zoo) writing this as my toasted hard drive is prepared for our trek to Novato to the data recovery place, and I'm not guessing I'll have a lot of quality computer time in the next week or so. Which is probably a good thing.

And hey, Oscar and I are looking forward to seeing you on our tour!
