Honduran Ombudsman expelled from FIDH

from La Jornada, my translation

The pro-coup Honduran commissioner for human rights, Ramón Custodio, has confirmed that the International Federation of Human Rights (FIDH) expelled him from said institution and that the International Federation of Human Rights is demanding he be investigated. "For his recent acts and omissions," the Spanish organization stated, "the institutional figure of the ombudsman is discredited and delegitimized."

This official, who in the 80s was recognized as one of the few voices speaking out against the violations and abuses committed by the Honduran armed forces, has acted in a completely opposite way in the past month.

Ramón Custodio is one of four Hondurans on the team of the de facto president Roberto Micheletti who had their visas revoked by the U.S. government.

Confusion in the La Jornada article?

The La Jornada article refers to both the and the Federación Iberoamericana de Derechos Humanos. There is an organization called FIO (Federación Iberoamericana de Ombudsman) (see, for example, El Libertador, but they don't seem to have any recent mentions of Custodio on their website. Of course, as is usual with NGOs, both websites are behind in posting news.

Thanks for catching that

I'd be interested in hearing if you find out more. I just translated it without (I admit) vetting it, so if there are errors I'd certainly like to know.
