Violent arrest of journalists Oscar Estrada, Roberto Barra

(my translation)
Oscar Estrada, independent journalist for HablaHonduras [and author of the daily updates I have been translating and posting on this website], and Roberto Barra, Chilean journalist, reported on Radio Progreso that they had been arrested by police who destroyed their cameras with clubs, confiscated their videotape and their cell phones. They hit him in the head, causing him to bleed. Human rights representatives are taking measures to formally demand that their tapes be returned.

Elsewhere, during peaceful protests against the coup d'etat taking place in Comayagua, journalist Edgardo Castro was also attacked by police, who beat him and destroyed his camera. He also reported that two minors (one of them four years old) had been arrested and were being held in adult cells.

César Alfaro called Radio Progreso for a few minutes before the "authority" took away his cell phone, reporting that he and some 70 other people were being held inside a military vehicle and being taken to an unknown destination
